Diffa books the payouts from the platforms you sell through and shows every month that the books match what was paid out. It is built by a developer from the finance world and has been developed together with accountants.
Why Diffa exists
A company that sells online gets its money from many places. Stripe, Klarna, PayPal and Shopify pay out with their own fees and their own schedule and report it in their own way. Someone has to split every payout into sales, VAT and fees, book it and then check that it came out right. Today that is often done by hand in a spreadsheet at the end of the month.
Diffa does that work automatically. The name comes from the word diff, the difference between two amounts that should be equal. Diffa’s job is to make that difference zero every month and to show it.
Who builds Diffa
Diffa is built by a developer with more than twenty years in the industry who has built enterprise integrations and developed systems for large finance companies, banks and hedge funds. There the requirement is that every transaction can be followed, that the sums match to the öre and that nothing has to be redone.
Diffa is the same requirement applied to a more everyday thing: getting the payouts into the books without manual work and without wondering whether the VAT came out right.
Developed with accountants
Diffa has been developed together with accountants who reconcile e-commerce companies every month. They have tested the product and reviewed how sales, fees and VAT are booked on real companies.
They have also gone through the hard cases: reverse charge on fees from foreign platforms, VAT-exempt fees, the OSS flow from voucher to return and what should happen when a platform does not report enough. Where the answer is not given Diffa stops and lets you or your accountant decide.
How we work
Everything Diffa books can be traced back to what the platform actually said. The raw material is kept and the records are attached to the voucher in the accounting software.
The same event is never booked twice. Diffa never reads bank accounts and never books bank lines, so you book the deposit as usual.
The accounts are yours. Diffa suggests how to book according to the BAS chart of accounts and books by the rules you have approved.
